Project: long nails

I quit drinking milk and switched lifestyle about three years ago, and after that my nails have never been quite as strong like they used to be. So, now I'm starting a little nail-growth program for myself. I'm going to try to take care of my nails and document the upcoming 4-5 month.

So what I'm going to do is:

  • Use nail strengthener
  • Massage them to get blood flowing
  • Massage them with castor oil
  • Eating vitamins from Solgar (Skin, hair and nails it's called)
  • Always keep a nail file on me
  • Just be careful in general

If you have any other good tips for me that worked for you, please share!

This is how my nails look right now (And been looking for the last years):

DIY Idea - Dreamy necklace

I've seen necklaces like this in the stores, assecorize etc. and I thought it would be a fun DIY project. This necklace is crazy easy to make!

- I bought small glass bottles with beads (The same as the pink you see in it) and removed the pearls in one of the bottles
- Then putted some other pearls in + a feather I cut in down to a small shape.
- After that I took some wire and putted around it and hung it on a silver chain, done!

Also, you could switch the content for something else, maybe a cute message if you'll be giving it away.

Theatre makeup

I'm very interested in makeup and everything around it. Even though I most of the time don't wear makeup more than "needed" I love to "craze" out a bit now and then. Lately I've been thinking a lot about getting in to theatre makeup as a side project beside school. Since I paint a lot of portraits I thought learning theatre makeup could be a good way to expand my artist skills, by using real faces as my canvas that is.

Only problem is there is no education programs dedicated to theatrical makeup in my area and I'm not so dedicated to it that I would actually move to go to a school like that.

Well, that got me thinking, maybe I could get into the industry by freelancing, I have a friend that enjoys doing music videos and freelance as a "music video maker" for amateur bands. Maybe I could get a foot in there and do effect makeup for his videos?

I'm going to go to the local library and borrow some books and read around a bit about it.

Thrifting

I think I'm gonna make this a more of a DIY/thrift fashion and beauty blog. I've been thrifting a lot lately and made some awesome finds I've changed and done some re-make on. I've found a new passion for DIY clothing and doing my own thing and just simply get creative with it.

Tomatoes = Happy skin!

Tip from me, eat more tomatoes!

Tomatoes:
- Contains lycopene, is an antioxidant and hence works as a sunscreen from within.
- Contains Vitamin A, C and K.
- It's anti aging.

I eat 1-2 tomatoes every day and have done the past year. I recognized that my skin was much brighter and less acne-prone when I consumed tomatoes than when I didn't. Also, I've always had problems with sunburns since my skin is very pale and sensitive, while eating so much tomatoes last summer I could take the sun much better.

It's a very cheap way to help your skin be radiant and strong!

Better prevent than treat

I wonder if anyone'll take the time to read this.. I really recommend you do because I don't want to waste time on writing stuff no one reads!
Kidding (but seriously (⊙_⊙) ), it's some pretty good info, for real.

Hippokrates (460 bc - 370 bc.), often called the father of medication, said:
"Let the food be your medicine".

Well spoken Hippokrates!

This is the first post in a series I'm doing about how to "save your skin". This is mostly going to be focused on food and the fact that what you eat makes a huge difference on your skin.

I'm not afraid to admit I have shitty skin, it's really hard to deal with. It's acne prone and even if my skin has pretty much cleared up I still have breakouts now and then, but I have found ways to take control and one of them is my lifestyle.
Better prevent than cure is my motto when it comes to skincare.

The skin is our biggest organ, but also the bodies last priority when it comes to where it'll send the minerals, vitamins and the other good stuff. Basically, if we don't eat enough vitamins, minerals etc, the ones we DO eat will go to our more important organs, which is the inner ones. So what I'm trying to say is, it isn't enough to just eat a broccoli and be like "Fine, I've eaten my healthy food for today", (Not like you just go grab a broccoli on the go and eat, but you get my point), you have to do more than that. The food you eat will show on our outer appearance, we all know this, but mostly we then think of wether we'll become fat or skinny, not the fact that our skin will take damage too.

So I'm going to give some tip on foods that are good for you that you really should consider put into your regular diet.
I'm mostly writing down stuff I eat myself, so no wishy woshy stuff.

Omega 3 is great for the skin and here's way to get it without popping capsules (which is by the way bad for the environment)

  • Salmon (Switch low fat fish for salmon every now and then)
  • Avocado (Add to your salad or eat with some cottage cheese, mmmm! Or spread on bread hihi rhymes.)
  • Walnuts (Snackalack on this instead of popcorn, crisp etc. Contains a lot of calories though, so don't over eat.)
  • Flax seed (Be careful with this, they are laxative.)
  • linseed oil (Mix with some vinegar and spices and put on salad, or cottage cheese, the protein in the cheese will help the body pick up the omega 3 easier)

Enough rambling for this post, or it'll be to much text.
I will be back soon with more stuff from my diet, or lifestyle or whatever you wish to call it. I prefer "food habits".
